High-Temperature Desert Conditions Causing Unstable Pulling? Saudi Customer Uses SA-YQ60 Hydraulic Cable Puller to Solve Loss-of-Control Issues

High-Temperature Desert Conditions Causing Unstable Pulling? Saudi Customer Uses SA-YQ60 Hydraulic Cable Puller to Solve Loss-of-Control Issues

2025-06-06

In Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern countries, most high-voltage transmission lines are built in extreme desert conditions. High temperatures, strong winds and heavy sandstorms put tremendous pressure on conventional mechanical pulling equipment. On many sites, contractors have been struggling with unstable pulling force, jerky starts and stops, and even conductor over-tension or sudden release – all of which increase the risk of conductor damage and safety incidents. This “uncontrolled pulling” issue was exactly the main pain point of this Saudi customer.

For a new high-voltage line project, the contractor decided to introduce three HYDRAULIC CABLE PULLER SA-YQ60 units as their main stringing equipment. The SA-YQ60 hydraulic cable puller is equipped with a hydraulic closed-loop control system that allows precise adjustment of both pulling force and pulling speed. During field operation, the machine starts, accelerates and brakes smoothly, avoiding the typical “hard pulling” and “hard braking” problems seen on older machines. Even under continuous operation in high desert temperatures, the pulling force remains stable and fully controllable.

Before using the SA-YQ60, the same section of line often suffered from conductor scratches, stretching, and reel backlash caused by unstable pulling. These issues not only increased safety risks, but also delayed the construction schedule due to rework. With the Hydraulic Cable Puller SA-YQ60, the pulling force is much more consistent, and the speed can be matched to actual site conditions. Line stringing becomes more predictable, and operators feel less pressure when controlling the process.

After several line sections were completed, the Saudi customer confirmed that the SA-YQ60 had effectively solved their long-standing problem of unstable pulling in high-temperature desert conditions. They have since decided to treat the SA-YQ60 hydraulic cable puller as a standard configuration for future transmission projects and plan to purchase additional units for upcoming line extensions and refurbishment work.
